Arun Mehra has been investing in India since 1997. As, Head of Investment Strategy & Portfolio Manager he setup Fidelity International’s India Investment Operation from 2003 -2006 including setting up the India based equity research group, the investment process for top 500 stocks, launching the International and Domestic India Funds and managed $4bn in Indian equities. These were the first Fidelity funds launched for India both onshore and offshore. During this time, Arun was one of the early investors in the small and mid cap space.
The total amount of assets raised from the Domestic and International funds was close to $3bn with $500mn from domestic investors and $2bn from international investors. The India Focus Fund was one of the 4 largest funds worldwide investing in India.
Post that, he moved to London to manage the India dedicated funds. From the London office, Mr. Arun Mehra was responsible for managing Fidelity’s offshore Indian equity portfolios, including the Fidelity Funds (FF) India Focus Fund as Portfolio Manager. He also managed an institutional account for one of the large European sovereign fund and smaller India funds from Korea and Australia.
Prior to becoming a Portfolio Manager, Mr. Arun Mehra worked across global offices and was a Sector Leader from 2002 to 2003 and managed a European Telecom and Utilities fund as well as being a Research Analyst at Fidelity’s London office between 2000 and 2002 and an Investment Analyst at the Hong Kong office between 1997 and 2000.
Mr. Arun Mehra also worked as a Summer Intern at Capital Research in Los Angeles in 1996 covering USA equities.
Mr. Arun Mehra received an MBA from the University of Chicago, and M.Sc. from the University of Arizona and a Bachelors of Engineering from the University of Delhi.
Mr. Khatu has over 21 years of asset management industry experience, and was Director of Finance for Fidelity International (FIL) Fund Management Private Limited (India) from September 2004 to July 2011. Mr. Khatu began his career in asset management industry with Franklin Templeton India. He became a Chartered Accountant in November, 1996. He is a founding partner.
